Superintendent, Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation
Director of Special Services for the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation, Meagan Wilks, makes the following announcement:
According to information recently received from the Indiana Department of Education’s Office of Special Education, Tippecanoe Valley’s special education program ranks in the highest of the four categories of determination.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act requires the Indiana Department of Education’s Office of Special Education to determine if each local school corporation’s special education program meets the requirements of Part B of the IDEA.
Based on the local school corporation’s score on a number of criteria, the school corporation is ranked in one of four categories of determination: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention, and Needs Substantial Intervention.
In accordance with federal monitoring cycles, the determinations are made in arrears and the recently announced determination is for the 2012-2013 school year. Based on the overall score, the IDOE ranked Tippecanoe Valley’s special education program in the top category.
According to Mrs. Wilks, “This determination by the Indiana Department of Education’s Office of Special Education reflects the hard work, determination, and commitment of Tippecanoe Valley’s educators who strive every day to meet the individual needs of our children with disabilities.”
