Syracuse Public Library Events Nov. 17-22:
November Is Health Awareness Month
November activities at the Syracuse Library include a reward for adults and young people who check out books, movies or CDs with a health theme. Recent items with a health theme are marked with a mustache. The staff will offer a health bar or apple for checking out health topics during November. Call the library for information at (574) 457-3022.
Young Adult Book Club
The Young Adult Book Club’s November activity is a healthy meal scavenger hunt with points for the best choices of item cards hidden in the library. The group meets at 5 p.m.Tuesday, Nov. 18. Teens are invited to join the fun and eat pumpkin pancakes.
Meet The Doctor
Meet the Doctor from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19. All ages are invited to watch an episode from Doctor Who, the second season and then decorate cookies. The social time is a great way for newly interested people to meet Whovians that know a few things about the doctor. Sugar might not be a health food for humans but chances are that it is for other carbon-based people. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Singing And The Letter S At Story Times
Joyce Corbin, a retired music teacher, is coming to the Nov. 17 story time to lead singing and activities with instruments. The next day, story time will feature the letter S and perhaps more singing? Both story times begin at 10:30 a.m.
Food For Fines
Nov. 17 is the first day that people can exchange non-perishable food or household items for overdue fines. The library collects food to give to the Syracuse Food Pantry during the 2014 holiday season while helping individuals bring their overdue balance out of arrears. A list of items the food pantry needs is available at the library.
