Final Leaf Pick-Up Dates, Thanksgiving Trash Schedule
By TERRI KEIM
Administrative Assistant, City of Warsaw Department of Public Works
The City of Warsaw has announced the final week for leaf pick-up has been scheduled for the week of Dec. 1.
Large piles of leaves can be raked to the curb or alley, not in the street. They will be picked up on your regular trash day and need to be out by 7 a.m. Do not put sticks or other trash in the leaf piles or block the piles with vehicles. Small piles will need to be bagged or boxed and will be picked up on your regular trash day.
In observance of Thanksgiving, city offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28. Thursday’s trash route will be picked up Wednesday, Nov. 26. Friday’s will be Monday, Nov. 30. All other routes will remain the same.
As a reminder, city ordinance requires your trash to be bagged and placed in a container no larger than 32 gallons with a tight fitting lid and handles. Items should be placed at your trash site by 7 a.m.
As the winter season approaches, we would like to remind you of the city’s ordinance regarding the removal of ice and snow from sidewalks. “The occupant, or owner if there is no occupant, of each and every building or lot within the city, fronting or bordering street, shall clean the sidewalk in front of such building or lot of all snow or ice before the hour of 9 a.m. of each day, and keep the sidewalk clear of snow and ice”. (Section 70-1)
