Hometown Holly Days For First Friday December
UPDATE: We’ve just been informed that the Grinch will be making an appearance at First Friday. The big, green curmudgeon will be in the Repurpose Room at 7:30 p.m. to read Dr. Seuss’s holiday classic, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”
Tis the season, and Warsaw’s First Friday celebration for December is sure to get everybody in the holiday spirit.
The theme for December First Friday is Hometown Holly Days. The centerpiece of the celebration is sure to be the third annual Twinkle Light Parade. Vehicles (or people, in some cases) will be adorned with festive lights, and the parade will commence at 7 p.m. in the Owen’s parking lot, travel east on Center Street, then north on Indiana Street and on to Central Park to light up the nite.
Additionally, the Warsaw Breakfast Optimists Club are bringing its Santa House back to the courthouse square. Santa will see good boys and girls from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Carriage rides through the park start a 5:30 p.m. at city hall. Rides are $5 per person or donate canned or dry food for a free ride.
First Christian Church will put on a live nativity throughout the event. The Best Schotz Victorian Carolers will perform throughout the evening. Tri Kappa will be hosting a Make-It-Take-It craft project for children in the lobby of Key Bank on Center Street, and all the downtown stores will be dressed in festive finery.
First Friday festivities will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Participant forms for the Twinkle Light Parade can be found at www.warsawcdc.org/events.
As a reminder, there will be no First Friday in January. First Friday will kick up again in February with Fire and Ice.
