UPDATE: Wreck at Winona Ave. and Scott Street, Warsaw
Drivers of both vehicles believed they had the green light at the intersection of East Winona Avenue and South Scott Street, Warsaw, causing a collision. There were no witnesses to the accident.
Warsaw Police report John F. Shepherd, 46, Rosemont Avenue, Warsaw, was on South Scott Street and proceeded to drive through the intersection at East Winona Avenue. He told police he had the green light.
At the same time Douglas E. Marsillett, 46, West CR 700S, Claypool, who was traveling west on East Winona Avenue proceeded to drive through the intersection. He also stated he had the green light.
The two vehicles collided. While neither driver was injured, Ronald R. Spaulding, 48, South McClellan Street, Warsaw, a passenger in the Shepherd vehicle complained of pain to the back.
The accident was at 12:50 p.m. Damage was estimated up to $1,000.
INITIAL: At approximately 12:50 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to Winona Ave. near the intersection of Scott Street in Warsaw for an automobile accident.
Two vehicles were involved. According to a Warsaw Police Department officer at the scene, two individuals were being checked by EMS at the scene, but injuries were believed to be relatively minor.
WPD, Warsaw Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS assisted at the scene. Please avoid the area until police can clear the scene.
