Syracuse Library News
The Syracuse Public Library is expanding its services with e-books and audiobooks to download from the library’s website.
Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting http://cidc.lib.overdrive.com beginning Sept. 1. Users may browse the e-book collection, check out with a valid library card, and download to PC, Mac, various e-readers and many mobile devices.
Users will need to install free software.
Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees. This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free for patrons with a valid Syracuse Public Library card. OverDrive, the service through which ebook lending will be available, is a leading full-service digital distributor of eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video.
To help celebrate the launch of e-books at the library, we’re giving away 3 e-readers in the adult fall reading program, Fall Into E-Books. Each time you return a book or an audio book to the library, make sure to fill out a ballot and place it in the ballot box at the adult circulation desk.
On Aug. 28, we’ll pull three lucky names to win a Kindle Fire, a Nook Color and a Kobo Wifi. Each of these devices will be compatible with the new OverDrive service for e-book lending launching in September at the library. There is no limit to the number of times you can enter to win, so get started! Must be 18 to enter.
