Trojans Open With Big Win
HAMLET – Triton’s 2014-15 boys basketball season opened with a bang Wednesday night, crushing sectional rival Oregon-Davis 63-46.
Triton shot just 37 percent (19-51) from the floor, but hit eight threes on the night to help stay ahead of the hosts. Jordan Anderson hit four treys and Skyler Reichert dropped three bombs as the Trojans shot 40 percent (8-20) from behind the arc. Anderson and Reichert both scored 18 points to lead all scorers and combined to pull down 15 rebounds.
Mason Yeo added 10 points, three boards and three assists and Joey Corder chipped in six points, five boards, four assists and three blocks.
Oregon-Davis had Blake Hurford score 17 points and four assists before fouling out. Henry Clark added 10 points and three boards.
Triton made its hay early, rushing out to a 13-5 lead and pushed the lead to 31-21 at the half.
Triton’s JV took a 27-6 lead in the first half in cruising to a 39-18 final over Oregon-Davis. Nine Trojans scored in the JV game, led by Jarrett Martin’s 11 points.
Triton (1-0) will face a tough test Tuesday in a visit to Plymouth while O-D (0-1) will also be in action Tuesday in hosting LaCrosse.
