BAKFC And Meijer Team Up For Coats For Kids
By JONI TRUEX
Executive Officer,
Builders Association Kosciusko Fulton County
The Builders Association Kosciusko Fulton Counties purchased 329 coats that were sorted and delivered to 17 elementary schools in Kosciusko and Fulton Counties.
Each year, the BAKFC contacts the area elementary schools and requests a list of the sizes and quantities by gender of the coats needed for any enrolled student that does not have a winter coat. The coats are then purchased at the Warsaw Meijer store.
Since 1996, the Builders Association members have donated and supported this cause, providing the money to purchase and deliver over 5,800 brand new coats to elementary schools. With this year’s purchases, the total amount spent has exceeded $126,600.
This year the coats were purchased at Meijer in Warsaw. The Warsaw Meijer management team and corporate office ensured there were enough coats for the children. The Builders Association and Meijer management team sorted the coats by school.
Several Builders Association members volunteered to deliver the coats to the 17 elementary schools. The Builders Association also truly appreciates all of the assistance from the Warsaw Meijer team. This project would not be possible without the sponsors, members and volunteers that helped to provide a warm coat for over 300 children this year.
May those that made this philanthropic outreach possible feel the caring warmth that their support has provided for these children in need.
