Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:33 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, South County Farm Road, north of West CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Austin M. Montel, 21, West CR 700S, Claypool. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.
7:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, East US 30 and South 900E, Pierceton. Drivers: Barbara S. Dunfee, 58, South Wolfe Road, Columbia City, and David D. Callison, 46, Buckingham Place, North Manchester. Dunfee suffered miner bleeding to the head and Callison complained of pain to the chest. Both were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Dunfee was westbound on US 30 getting ready to cross eastbound traffic on US 30. Dunfee told police as she was crossing over there were a lot of vehicles traveling eastbound with several vehicles in the crossover. When she thought it was clear she entered into the eastbound lane and at the last minute saw the eastbound Callison vehicle. Dunfee tried to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision. Damage up to $25,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, East US 30 and South 900E, Pierceton. Drivers: Barbara S. Dunfee, 58, South Wolf Road, Columbia City, and Toran L. Savent, 29, East Lynnwood Drive, Syracuse. Dunfee complained of pain to the head from a previous accident. Savant was traveling east on US 30 and noticed emergency lights in the distance. He merged into the passing lane of US 30 but did not notice the upside down Dunfee vehicle in the passing lane due to the darkness. Savent swerved to miss the upside down vehicle, but unable to miss it and side-swiped the Dunfee vehicle. Savent had a small child in a child-restraint seat at the time of the crash. Paramedics did check the child and reported no injury. Damage: up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:59 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, Sue Avenue, north of Green Hill Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Gayle A. Cart, 57, South CR 400W, Warsaw. Cart suffered minor bleeding to the neck. Cart was southbound on Sue Avenue, messing with the windshield wiper controls, when her vehicle went left of center head on into a parked vehicle, registered to Geoffrey R. Bailey, West Snyder Road. Bailey’s vehicle was then pushed into a parked vehicle registered to Frederick J. Stoffel, Sue Avenue, Warsaw. Stoffel’s vehicle was pushed over two mailboxes and a speed limit sign. Damage up to $25,000.
9:57 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Pamela S. Miller, 59, Apple Road, Bourbon. Miller was parked next to a light pole and when she began to back from her parking space, struck yellow the concrete base of the light pole. Damage up to $2,500.
7:14 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, Commerce Drive and Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: Joyce E. Taylor, 74, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Taylor stated due to glare on roadway, she had a hard time seeing the road. Her vehicle ran off the road and hit a street sign. Damage up to $1,000.
3;51 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, Lake City Highway, west of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Clayton E. Moore, 17, South Packerton Road, Silver Lake, and Jeffery L. Gordon, Logan Street, Warsaw. Moore’s vehicle struck the back of the Gordon vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2:47 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, West Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers; Rodney D. Heltzel, 46, North Park Avenue, Warsaw, and Donald M. Chadwick, 70, North CR 100E, Warsaw. Heitzel was backing from a parking space at the same time Chadwick was backing his vehicle from a space directly across the isle, causing the two vehicles to collide. Damage up to $2,500.
