Kosciusko REMC is seeking current high school juniors, who are the dependents of KREMC members, to apply for the 2015 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
Two winning students from KREMC’s service area will have a chance to join other Indiana youth on this all-expenses paid trip of a lifetime. Indiana’s electric cooperatives have hosted the Youth Tour since 1960, providing hundreds of young Hoosiers the opportunity to visit our nation’s capitol and learn about the federal government and the cooperative utility industry.
The trip leaves from Indianapolis on Thursday, June 11 and returns from Washington, D.C. on Thursday, June 18.
Students participating in the trip will visit the Flight 93 and Pentagon 9/11 Memorials, the Gettysburg Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian Institution, a night cruise on the Potomac River, the National Mall memorials, the National Museum of the Marine Corps and much more.
Students will also participate in a “Youth Tour Rally,” where they will hear from Olympic Gold Medalist Mike Schlappi then travel to Capitol Hill and visit with representatives from Indiana’s Congressional delegation.
Applications for the 2015 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. trip are available at the KREMC office or can be downloaded from www.kremc.com. Completed applications must be returned to KREMC by Friday, Feb. 13. To be eligible, applicants must be current juniors and dependents of KREMC members or employees.
Kosciusko REMC is a Touchstone Energy electric cooperative serving over 17,000 members throughout Kosciusko County and into surrounding counties.
