Nappanee Public Library news this week:
Lego Club
The Lego club will meet at the library from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. Kids aged five and up are invited to take part in age group appropriate challenges and free building time. The club meets on the third Thursday of every month during school year. This month’s theme building challenge is robots. No registration is required and parents are welcome to stay and participate. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult and all materials are provided.
Maker Moms
Mothers of invention are called to unite at the library makerspace from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. Women craters, artists and makers of all kinds are invited to join in on meetings of Maker Moms in The Cube on the third Thursday of each month. Bring a current project to work on and take advantage of the equipment in the makerspace as you enjoy the camaraderie of other creative ladies. Share tips, inspiration and feedback on project and help ignite a new create community. No registration is necessary.
Library Tour
Did you know you could use a sewing machine and serger or check out a portable die cut machine at the library? How about craft patterns or jigsaw puzzles? There are more than books at the library. New cardholders and those interested in learning more about the library are invited to a guided tour, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
In addition to discovering where to find current bestsellers, a favorite cookbook or the daily news, participants will be introduced to many special services. These include the makerspace, the online catalog, eMedia, computers and copiers, framed art, CD’s, DVD’s and many other material for loan.
American Girls
Learn about Cecile and Marie Grace, American Girls from 1853 New Orleans as you make party masks at the next American Girls club meeting. Girls in first and second grade meet from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and girls in third through fifth meet from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24. This club meets once a month at the library during the school years to learn more about girls throughout American history and share in other activities such as themed parties and community service projects. Space is limited, so register by Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Crafting Hope
Crafting Hope is a club that will meet from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 to make finger puppets for orphans across the globe. This crafting night is open to the public. Puppets will be sent to and distributed by The Miracle Foundation, an organization that helps sustain orphanages in India.

Crafting Hope meets quarterly to make simple projects for local and global organizations. Since 2011, the group has donated hundreds of clothing items, toys, bibs, blankets and more to people around the world and across the street.
3D Printer Training
Library cardholders with an interest in the maker movement, enginnering, drafting, crafting and other techno-creative endeavors are invited to become certified on the library’s new Makerbot 3D printer. The next training session takes place from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26. Learn how to program, run and troubleshoot projects and become certified to use it independently. Register by Thursday, Feb. 19.
