Volleyball Picks Up First Win

The Wawasee Lady Warrior volleyball program earned a much-needed win in what will be a very busy week of action.

The Lady Warriors moved to 1-2 on the season after a 25-15, 25-14, 25-17 win at Lakeland. Alli Ousley had a big night for Wawasee, leading the team in kills (6) and aces (4) and also chipped in six assist. Aly Anderson added a team-high 10 digs, Leeann McGuire nine assists and Taylor Spangle had three blocks to pace the net defense.

The Wawasee JV (5-1) also beat Lakeland but in much more competitive games, 25-23, 25-24. Kasey Napier and Jada Antonides combined for 21 digs while Napier and Mikala Mawhorter teamed up for 11 kills.

Wawasee will host Central Noble tomorrow night, travel to Bethany Christian on Thursday and then participate in the Westview Tournament Saturday.

Plymouth Shuts Out Tennis

The Plymouth boys tennis team wasted little time on the tennis courts Monday in a reschedule with Wawasee. The Pilgrims lost just nine games all night in a 5-0 win over the Warriors in Plymouth.

The singles trio of Gabe Vervynckt, Josh Hunter and Tom Felke lost just three games to Kyler Love, Todd Hauser and Doug Hapner. The Wawasee doubles teams of Isaac Rigdon and Dylan Houser as well as Chase Myers and Roz Kunkle both lost by matching 6-2, 6-1 scores to Matt Flynn and Kendall Fasler on the one doubles court and Kameron Eisehour and Ryan Johnson on the two doubles court.

Wawasee (0-3, 0-1 NLC) will get right back at it tomorrow with a visit coming from Central Noble.
