Looking for a quality activity to do with your child? Have fun building together at the library’s LEGO Club from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. LEGOs were invented in 1934 in the carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Kristiansen in Denmark. LEGO is an abbreviation of two Danish words “leg godt” meaning “play well” which is a good description of the creative thinking skills kids develop when playing with LEGOs. The library provides all the LEGOs while the kids provide the imagination. LEGO Club is for kids ages five to 12. Children under age 9 should be accompanied by an adult.
Older youth in grades six through high school are invited to Teen Time after school at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. We will be making mini-pizzas with several toppings to choose from followed by a round or two of the card game UNO. It will be yum and fun, so invite your friends.
On the adult side, Writer’s Corner meets at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16 to share their essays about what occupations they would choose if they could go back and do it all over again. It should be an interesting time of hearing everyone’s thoughts expressed in writing.
At 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 R.E.A.D. Book Club meets to discuss the book “Dear Mrs. Lindbergh” by Kathleen Hughes. There are still copies of the book available, so stop by to pick one up and join the discussion. Next month’s book will be “Plain Truth” by Jodi Picoult.
If you’re a genealogy buff and want to connect with other family historians, the Glean Team meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18. Led by Local History and Genealogy Director Beth Smith, this group meets the first three Wednesdays each month to help each other with family research and historical projects.
There are still tickets available for the “Murder on the Dance Floor” Mystery Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. Tickets are $15 per person and include dinner. Participants are assigned a character to play throughout the evening and clues to follow as we try to solve the mystery. You must purchase a ticket to participate. The number is limited, so contact Adult Services Director Beth Smith right away to get your ticket and character assignment. This event is for adults only.
