Pierceton Town Council Approves Bond Issuances
At its Feb. 9 meeting, the Pierceton Town Council held a public hearing regarding a bond issuance ordinance that was introduced at the Jan. 12 meeting.
The ordinance was approved. The money from the bonds will fund a sewer project. The towns current sewer system is 60 years old. Though the exact date is still unknown at this time, bonds are expected to go to market in the near future.
Additionally, bids were opened for the sewer project. The project was estimated at $2.2 million. Two bids were submitted; each came in at under $1.5 million.
No bids have been awarded yet, but these low bids indicate the town could save some money on the sewer project.
Discussion continued on purchasing body-mounted cameras for Pierceton Police. Pierceton Town Marshall Tim Sammons received several quotes for the equipment and found units for just a few $100 a piece.
Ultimately the issue was tabled for further review of the police department’s budget and further research.
