Regis Philbin Will Address Trine Graduates May 9
Television legend Regis Philbin will give the commencement address at Trine University in Angola May 9. During the ceremony Trine will also present him with an honorary doctorate of humane letters.
The commencement is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 9 at the Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium and is open to the public.
“We are honored a cultural icon and veteran TV personality such as Mr. Philbin has accepted our invitation to speak at Trine,” said Earl D. Brooks II, PhD, Trine president. “He has entertained and enlightened television audiences for years and we look forward to hearing his advice and message for our students.
Philbin, who first appeared on TV more than 50 years ago, was longtime host of “Live with Regis” and “LIVE! with Regis and Kelly.” He left the show in 2011, but has continued to make regular appearances on other shows, including “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
In September 2011, Philbin broke set a Guinness World Record for most hours on camera on US television, with a total of 16,746 accumulated during his career.
A graduate of Notre Dame, he is married to Joy Philbin.
