Triton Wins Finale At Knox
KNOX – A big first half carried the Triton boys basketball team to a convincing win at Knox Friday night.
The Trojans built a 15-point halftime lead en route to defeating the host Redskins 67-46 in the Northern State Conference and regular-season finale.
Triton led 16-7 after the opening quarter and 35-20 at halftime.
Jordan Anderson scored a game-high 17 points as the Trojans won their fifth straight game.
Austin Sellers had 11 points and seven rebounds for Triton, which improves to 15-7 overall and finishes at 6-1 in the final year of the NSC.
The Trojans, with the win, claim a share of the final NSC championship. Triton shares the league crown with John Glenn, which beat New Prairie Friday night to also finish at 6-1 in the final league standings.
Masen Yeo also had 11 points and Skyler Reichert and Grant Johnson each had 10 for the winners.
Triton hit 21-26 free throws in the win and had just seven turnovers.
Jeremy Crittendon and Kooper Broeker each had 15 points to lead Knox.
The Redskins, who have lost their last 18 games, drop to 2-20 overall and finish at 1-6 in the NSC. Knox had 20 turnovers in the contest.
Triton won the junior varsity game 50-26. Dalton Bailey led the winners with 16 points.
Triton will play LaCrosse Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the opening game of the Class 1-A Triton Sectional.
