DeHart Arrested In Connection With Syracuse Shooting
An arrest was made in connection with the shooting deaths of Joshua Knisley and Tara Thornburg yesterday.
Joan DeHart, 49, Syracuse, was arrested on Wednesday, March 4 for assisting a criminal. The arrest came as part of an on going investigation of the shooting that occurred in Syracuse on Feb. 19.
Based on information gleaned from the investigation, Syracuse Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance of the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, executed a search warrant at DeHart’s residence, located at CR 450E just south of Syracuse. The search uncovered evidence related to the deaths of Knisley and Thornburg.
DeHart, a third grade teacher at Milford Elementary School, is currently being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 bond. According to Wawasee Community School Corporation Superintendent Tom Edington, DeHart is on administrative leave. The investigation of the shooting is still ongoing.
