Warsaw Education Foundation Announces Quiz Bowl Winners
Yesterday evening 49 teams from area businesses and organizations competed in the Warsaw Education Foundation’s annual community quiz bowl fundraiser.
The event, which was was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the WCHS Tiger Den featured five-person teams that cooperatively formulated one answer to questions from a variety of categories. Categories included academics, 2014 in review, presidential history and luck of the Irish (in support of St. Patrick’s Day). The winning team, Warsaw Women’s Center, scored 51 points out of a possible 60 total points.
Attendees this year were given the chance to support the WEF through individual donations for a Red Apple Grant request supporting math materials for first grade students at Madison Elementary. Visit the WEF website, www.warsaweducationfoundation.org, if you would like to donate to this challenge
Halftime refreshments were offered by Lake City Bank and Maple Leaf Farms participated as a “valedictorian” level sponsor. Honor roll level sponsors include Biomet, Louis Dreyfus, Esther Pfleiderer Charitable Trust, Warsaw Morning Optimist Club and Todd and Pam Weingart.
The Warsaw Education Foundation provides funding, through community support, to advance enrichment opportunities, innovative and inventive teaching, and academic exploration in Warsaw Community Schools. Through the Red Apple Grants program, the Foundation awards grants to WCS teachers for creative classroom projects. The Foundation also provides funds for Annual Chess Tournaments, N.E.W. Opportunities Workshop for Women, WCS Summer Enrichment program scholarships and Partners in Education business/school partnership. The Foundation recognizes academic excellence through programs such as the annual High School Academic Reception and Teacher of the Year community billboards.
