Frantz Tabbed To Indiana All-Star Team
NAPPANEE – Jordyn Frantz put together an amazing high school basketball career.
Now the NorthWood High School senior star has an amazing accolade to cap that incredible prep run.
Frantz, a standout guard, has been named to the IndyStar Indiana All-Star Team.
The 14-member team, which will play Kentucky in the annual two-game series this summer, was announced earlier today by the Indianapolis Star.
Frantz becomes the fifth player from the prestigious Panther program to make Indiana’s all-star team. She joins former NorthWood standouts Heather Smith, Natalie Will, Amy Zercher and Carol Duncan. Smith went on to play at Toledo, Will at Northwestern, Zercher at Ball State and Duncan at Purdue. The pair of Will and Zercher led the Black Swish to the Class 3-A state championship in 1999.
Frantz led coach Adam Yoder’s team to a 19-6 overall mark this past season. The Panthers went 7-0 to win the Northern Lakes Conference title. NorthWood lost 64-60 to eventual state runner-up Tippecanoe Valley in a semifinal game of the Wawasee Sectional.
Frantz, who has signed to play at Saint Louis University, averaged 19.9 points and eight rebounds per game her senior season. She also averaged 3.1 assists and 3.3 steals per outing and shot 51 percent from the field (including 38 percent on 3-pointers) and 81 percent from the free throw line.
Frantz scored a single-game school record 42 points in a win over LaPorte this past season. She finished second in school history in career scoring with 1,421 points.
The Indiana All-Star team is led by Miss Basketball Ali Patberg of Columbus North. The 5-10 Patberg, who will play at Notre Dame, led her team to the Class 4-A state title. She averaged 25.9 points-per-game and was selected as a McDonald’s All-American.
The All-Star squad also has a strong area flavor to it this year.
In addition to Frantz, also named to the team were Madeline Raster of South Bend St. Joseph, Tiara Murphy of South Bend Washington and Michal Miller of Michigan City. Raster, who will play at Harvard, led her team to a 22-2 mark. Murphy, who has signed with Purdue, averaged 18.6 ppg. and Miller, an Arizona recruit, averaged 24.7 ppg.
The team also includes Darby Maggard from Fort Wayne Canterbury. The guard, who will play at Belmont University, averaged 28.6 ppg. and led Canterbury to a Class 2-A state runner-up finish.
A trio of players from Bedford North Lawrence, which won Class 4-A state titles in 2013 and 2014, made the team. Included from BNL was Alexa Bailey, the daughter of former Indiana star Damon Bailey.
