Weather Knocks Out More Sports
SYRACUSE – Wawasee has gone 0-for-March thus far in terms of spring sports versus weather. As temperatures are expected to range in the mid-30s Saturday, all of the Wawasee High School-based events are cancelled.
The softball season opener at Westview was cancelled and will not be made up. Wawasee’s season opener now is pegged for Monday, March 30, with a 5 p.m. first pitch in Syracuse against Lakeland.
The boys and girls track teams were set to compete in the Jim Eger Relays hosted by Elkhart Memorial, which was called off by Memorial. The girls track team will look to its first meet Tuesday, April 14, at Warsaw and with Northridge. The boys track team will travel to Plymouth Thursday, April 16, for its first meet. Both are Northern Lakes Conference round robin meets.
The baseball scrimmage at Churubusco for Saturday afternoon was halted and will not be made up. The varsity baseball opener will be Tuesday at Bethany Christian, with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
Wawasee’s girls tennis program are slated to begin Tuesday at home against Lakeland, a 5 p.m. first serve.
