Adult Craft Night

Join us at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13, for adult craft night. We will be making a garden wreath made from a watering hose, flowers, gardening gloves and seed packets. Total cost of materials is $10. Sign up by 6 p.m. Friday, April 10, to reserve a spot. Payment is required at time of registration. Bring a friend and create a garden wreath to hang on your door for spring.

Staff In-service

The library will be closing at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, for a staff in-service. Due to the closing, there will be no After School is Cool. We will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. There are drop boxes on the south side of the building to return books after hours.

Lapsit

Join staff for the second week of lapsit. Our theme is bugs. Come and listen to books, songs and fingerplays about bugs. We will sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and read “Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!” by Bob Barner. Lapsit is at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14. If you have children who would like to be part of lapsit, you can call the library or register at the desk in the children’s department.

Spring Story Time

Spring story time this week will be at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, or 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16. We will be celebrating National Library Week. Listen to “Let’s Go to the Library” by Martha E.H. Rustad and “The Midnight Library” by Kazuno Kohara. After listening to stories, we will color and create our own design on blank puzzles. After creating our puzzles, enjoy a snack of cheese and crackers that look like open books. Call the library now at (574) 658-4312 or come in to get your child signed up for story time.

Big Read Movie

Have you read this year’s Big Read choice, “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury? The library has decided to show the movie companion to the book. Come to the library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the library meeting room, for a showing of the movie. We will provide popcorn and refreshments. There are still free copies of the book available in the yellow bin in the library’s adult department. See you there.

Knitting Club

The knitting club meets from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, in the teen area of the library. Bring a knitting project and get help from experienced knitters. The knitting club meets on the second and third Friday of April. Come learn how to make a blanket or a scarf.

Classical Guitar Music in the Library

Enjoy listening to classical guitar? Scott, a graduate student at IU South Bend, will be at the library performing for us as part of practice for his Masters Recital. Scott is completing his masters degree in classical guitar performance in May 2015. This performance, here at the library, is being done in preparation for his master recital at IUSB on April 27. His recital will feature music from all historical time periods, with works by Alonso Mudarra, J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega, and Andrew York. Join him as he plays in the Milford Public Library Teen Area from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23. Come lend support and have a good time listening to music.
