Susan Marie Shaw, 93, formerly of Wabash, died at 10:25 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, in Columbia City.

She was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Wabash County, to Glen and Dolly (Smith) Palmer.

Susan was a 1940 graduate of LaFontaine High School. She married Robert H. Shaw in South Bend, on April 20, 1941; he died Oct. 23, 1993. She was a member of the former Ladies Tuesday Night Civic Bowling team for 32 years, and was a homemaker. Susan enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, but most of all she enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her daughter: Nancy Jo (Steve) Thrush, Columbia City; four grandchildren: Melissa (James) Scott, Olathe, Kansas; Melinda (Scott) Purdy, Fort Wayne; Erik (Kimberly) Gierke, Wabash; and Richard Gierke, Warsaw; nine great-grandchildren: Brandon, Bailey, Brianna and Bradly Scott; Andrew and Matthew Purdy; Heather-Ann Gierke; and Dolan and Alexandra Dundas; sister: Adaline (Leonard) Sellers, Pierceton; and brother-in-law: Kenneth Welch, Peru.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Judy Ann Gierke; and Carolyn Sue Shaw; three sisters; and one infant brother.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the funeral home.
