Adult Reading Club
There were 62 participants in this year’s “Escape the Ordinary” adult reading club. Every week for 12 weeks, names were drawn for prizes. Our three grand prize winners were: Adele Wollman, Bonnie Newman and Julie Baumgartner. They each won a $50 gift card to Target. Other winners were: Brittany Ritter, Esther Dunning, Peggy Miller, Becky Alles, Sandy Greer, Barbara Beer, Mandy Kennedy, Inez Beiswanger, Kathy Friggle and Elizabeth Finton. Congratulations to all our fabulous reading champions.
The library receives new books all the time. Check out our new adult fiction at the end of the magazine shelves and on the display just inside the south doors in the adult area. New adult nonfiction is on display at the end of the books on CD in the adult area. Look for these great titles soon: “The Liar” by Nora Roberts, “House of Echoes” by Brenda Duffy, “Memory Man” by David Baldacci and “Every Fifteen Minutes” by Lisa Scottoline.
Spring Storytime
Join staff for spring story time this week. Come at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, or at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30. Come and talk about the color green. Listen to “I Don’t Want to be a Frog” by Dev Petty and “Green” by Laura Vaccaro Seeger. After listening to stories, we will make a frog craft. Following craft time, everyone will enjoy a green snack of green rice krispie treats.
Lapsit
Join staff for the last week of lapsit. The theme is bugs. Come and listen to books, songs and fingerplays about bugs. We will sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and read “Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!” by Bob Bamer. Lapsit is at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28.
Nutrition Program
The next nutrition program is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30. This month’s topic is “Honey, how Sweet it is.” Is honey all the same? When baking, do you use honey or sugar? Stephanie Faroh, Purdue extension educator, will demonstrate some recipes using honey and bring other information about types of honey. Raw honey is said to have many healing properties. We will have door prizes to give away after the program. There will be a sign up sheet available on Thursday, April 23, at the adult circulation desk.
Afternoon Knitting Club
From 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, the knitting club meets to work on knitting projects and to give and get help from other knitters. They meet on the first and third Friday of May. Come learn how to make a blanket or scarf.
