Nashville, Indiana Named Among Best Small Towns In America
Smithsonian.com has named Nashville, Indiana, as one of the 20 best small towns in America.
Nashville was chosen because it’s a ‘bucolic, woodsy paradise for country music fans and art lovers alike.’ Smithsonian highlights the Bill Monroe Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, the Brown County Art Gallery, coffeehouses and the fall colors at Brown County State Park.
For the fourth annual version of the list, the site collaborated with geographical information company Esri to sort the country’s small towns (population less than 20,000) according to cultural attractions, historical sites eating establishments and other factors. They then researched to find places commemorating milestones in 2015 such as anniversaries, openings, renovations and recoveries.
The list celebrates some of the lesser known wonders of the nation, from ancient forests of the Pacific Northwest to the moss-draped bayous of the South. It includes locations with quirky festivals, historic sites, art, food, nature and more.
