Warsaw Rifle And Pistol Club Hosts USPSA Championship Competition
Men and women from across the nation will arrive in Warsaw this weekend to take part in the Indiana USPSA Championship Competition. The competition will take place at the Warsaw Rifle and Pistol club located at 2141 N. CR 150W, Warsaw.
According to Bob Ferguson of the Warsaw Rifle and Pistol Club, a total of 196 participants will shoot a variety of action pistols in three separate classes. Ferguson noted this is a state championship competition with competitors of all skill levels attending.
The range has also hosted the Indiana Sectional USPSA Competition. Though past competitions have had a good turnout, Ferguson noted this is the first time he is aware of a competition ever being filled. Ferguson stated contestants will hail from across the country with visitors hailing from Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and beyond.
Guests will reside at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Warsaw, which Ferguson noted has been very helpful with accommodating guests in the past.
Scoring will be determined by utilizing a “hit factor scoring” model. Ferguson explained contestants will be scored by the points scored on a target divided by the time taken to shoot. The individual with the highest hit factor will be awarded a 100 percent and all other shooters will rank in accordance to this percentage.
Both division and class winners will be announced with division cash prizes of approximately $160 being awarded at the 100 percent, 75 percent and 50 percent rankings. Plaques will be awarded for class level winners, which are determined by skill level.
The competition will take place from 9 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and will be held outside, rain or shine. Those interested in spectating are asked to please wear ear and eye protection, which will be available in the clubhouse.
