Propane Leak Possible Cause Of Medaryville House Explosion
An explosion killed one woman and totally leveled a Pulsaski county house over the weekend. Neighbors reported the incident at approximately 7:15 a.m. Saturday, May 16, in Medaryville.
Firefighters from Medaryville and San Pierre battled the resulting blaze for several hours. The body of Nancy Jendrasziewicz, 53, was found inside. An autopsy indicated she died of smoke inhalation. The family cat was found alive by Medaryville Assistant Police Chief Sheri Gaillard.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the explosion, but preliminary reports point to a propane leak.
