Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc.
Ron Baumgartner, president of The Papers Incorporated, recently established the Archibald (Arch) and Della Baumgartner Community Fund at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation to honor his parents’ memory and to help meet the changing needs of Kosciusko County, forever.
In 1939, Arch Baumgartner left college and his job as an ice truck driver to take over The Milford Mail, a weekly newspaper with 600 subscribers. In 1945, Arch’s wife, Della, joined the firm followed by their son, Ron, in 1966 and Ron’s wife, Gloria, in 1970. Today, the once fledgling weekly newspaper business has grown to a publishing company that produces 25 publications and provides commercial printing. The Papers Incorporated is the parent company of InkFreeNews.com
Ron fondly remembers childhood days spent in the print shop. He grew up emptying shop waste baskets, sweeping floors and taking naps on top of paper cartons. While handset type has evolved to digital printing and online news production — one thing hasn’t changed in the business. Success still hinges on hard work and dedicated team members.
The creation of the Community Fund in his parents’ names is one more way Ron can continue their legacy. The fund is an endowment so the principal will not be spent. Instead, it will be invested and the earnings made available to make charitable grants benefiting our community — forever!
The gift Ron made to establish this Community Fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of the “Bring it Home” GIFT VI initiative. To learn more about how your gift can be doubled, visit www.KCFoundation.org/Match.
Since 1968, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Inc. has brought caring people and charitable endeavors together for the good of the community. The Community Foundation is a public charity, and gifts made to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
