State Health Department Update On HIV Outbreak
State health officials announced yesterday that the number of HIV cases in the southeastern Indiana outbreak is now at 162 cases (159 confirmed and three preliminary positive). Due to the closure of the Community Outreach Center on Sunday and Monday, all numbers included in this release are as of May 22.
The Community Outreach Center, including the needle exchange, has new hours of operation, effective May 26. Hours of operation are:
- Monday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Closed
One-Stop Shop Update at the Community Outreach Center
Services provided include: access to state-issued ID cards, birth certificates, job counseling and local training, enrollment in HIP 2.0 insurance, HIV testing, HIV care coordination, substance abuse referrals, and vaccinations against tetanus, Hepatitis A and B.
