Patterson Memorial Ride June 14
AKRON – The Sgt. Nicholas Patterson Memorial Ride is set for June 14.
Benefits from the fifth annual ride go to the Nicholas Patterson Memorial Fund. The fund honors the memory of Sgt. Nicholas Patterson of Rochester, who was killed while serving in Iraq in 2007.
The Nicholas Patterson Memorial Fund, which was started in 2008, provides athletic camp scholarships to boys in grades kindergarten through eighth grade who attend either Rochester or Tippecanoe Valley schools. The fund has sent more than 60 boys to athletic camps all over the state since it was started.
Check-in for the ride will be from10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Pre-Ride Ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. with the ride starting at noon. The ride will begin and end at the Field of Honor at Akron Elementary School. Cost is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger. There will be a cookout, door prizes and T-shirt sales following the ride.
The ride is open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
Patterson was a 2001 graduate of Rochester Community High School, where he was a standout athlete in both basketball and baseball.
