Pizzeria Employee Texted Bomb Threat To Get Off Work
A pizza restaurant employee has been charged with false information and intimidation after texting a fake bomb threat to get out of work, according to police.
Ashley N. Keichinger, 18, of Dyer, was charged Friday, June 12. The incident occurred June 6 at Doreen’s Pizzeria, Joliet Street, Crown Point.
Police responded to a call of a worker receiving text messages telling him if all the workers didn’t leave by 3 p.m., “I will blow up the place,” according to reports. Another text message stated, “Die. I know you work at Doreen’s. I’m coming for you.”
The worker didn’t recognize the number and initially believed it to be a joke. However, after talking to co-workers, he contacted police regarding the threats.
Detectives were able to trace the phone number used to deliver the messages to a texting app. Keichinger, who was working at the time the threats were made, allegedly admitted to police that she sent the messages in hopes the business would close for the rest of the day.
