Donald Frounfelter
Mr. Donald L. Frounfelter, 88, of Rochester, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Woodlawn Hospital.
On Aug. 17, 1926, Don was born in Martinsville to Efra and Anna Buis Frounfelter. He was the youngest of four sons. Don grew up in Morgantown and a farm outside Martinsville. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1944.
As a member of the US Army Air Corp, he served in the South Pacific during WWII. When Don returned home, he attended IU, graduating with a BS in business in 1950. He worked for J.C. Penney’s, Pollack Paper and Sonoco Paper Products. After 30 years, he retired from Sonoco as District Sales Manager in 1986.
Don and Barbara Bain were married on Dec. 24, 1948, in Spencer. They shared 65 years of marriage before she preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2014. Don is also preceded in death by his parents; son: William H. Frounfelter, on Sept. 4, 2001; and three brothers.
Don is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Sarah (Mike) Lee, Amherst, Ohio; Donalee Frounfelter, Wildwood, Ill.; two sons: Dr. Jim (Patti) Frounfelter, Iphpeming, Mich.; and Dr. D.J. (Lori) Frounfelter, Rochester; nine grandchildren: Nate (Christine) Lee, Lakewood, Ohio; Dr. Aaron (Dr. Meghan) Lee, Downers Grove, Ill.; Mike (Keisa) Lee, Columbus, Ohio; James (Suzanne) Frounfelter, Seattle, Wa.; Molly (Dr. Jeremy Michelak) Frounfelter, Pittsburg, Pa.; Dr. Bill (Ashley) Frounfelter, Rochester; Dr. Adam (Dr. Allie) Frounfelter, Evansville; Dr. Tyler (Martha) Frounfelter, Evansville; Kelsey (Mark) House, Rochester; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery of Martinsville.
