A former employee of Hough Hauling and Excavating has been arrested on charges of theft and forgery. The alleged crime occurred between Jan. 1 and Nov. 22, 2013 and around Oct. 9, 2014. Charges were filed on May 21.
Joshua B. Moody, 30, 5533 N. Warsaw Oswego Road, Warsaw, has been charged with theft and forgery, both level 6 felonies. He was arrested Saturday, June 27, and held on a $5,000 surety bond.
Court documents state Bradley Hough reported two concrete drills and a construction laser had come up missing. An employee informed him he had observed the laser at a pawn shop. Police learned on Nov. 22, 2013, Moody came into the store and pawned the laser, two hammer drills and two torque wrenches.
Hough also stated on Oct. 9, 2014, he received an invoice from Mike Gill Auto and Truck Parts, Inc., for vehicle parts totaling $133.75. The charge was signed by Billy Hough. Billy Hough denied signing for the purchase, and named Moody as a potential suspect. A photograph of Moody was obtained and shown to officials at Gills. Officials at the business verified it was Moody who made the purchase, charging it to Hough Excavating. Billy Hough told police he did not authorize Moody to use his name.
Bradley Hough confronted Moody who agreed to pay him $150 by a set date. No payment had been received. Moody’s last day of employment with Hough Hauling and Excavating was June 20
