Lake City Skiers Prepping For Tourneys
WARSAW – The Lake City Skiers are preparing to compete at The Central Region Tournament July 11-12 In Rock Island, Ill.
The Central Region Tournament is the qualifying tournament for national competition. The Lake City Skiers will be competing against both Divisions I and II Teams with the hopes of qualifying for a spot in the 41st Division I Show Ski Nationals Tournament held in Rockford, Ill., Aug. 7-9, 2015.
In competition teams have 20 minutes to setup for their show, one hour to perform 13 acts and 10 minutes to clear all equipment from the show site.
Teams are scored on difficulty and execution of acts, flow of the show, crowd appeal and showmanship. They also receive scores for tow boat driving, safety (pickup) boat performance, dock and equipment and sound and announcing.
The Lake City Skiers have been in existence since 1989 and are Indiana’s only competitive show ski team. The team performs free shows for the public on Tuesdays and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. The show site is located at Hidden Lake in Warsaw, right behind Smith Tire at US 30 and SR 15.
