The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that the US 33 bridge over the Elkhart River, in the Town of Benton, is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 6, weather permitting. Work will include a bridge deck replacement between CR 33 and CR 44.

The official detour is US 6 through to SR 13, and SR 15 to US 33.

This project is expected to be completed by early November. The contract for the project was awarded to R.L. McCoy for $1.2 million.
