Jean H. McHatton
Jean H. McHatton, 95, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.
She was born July 5, 1917, in Marshall County, Ind., to Andrew J. and Ruby (Heisler) Hall. She was a Warsaw resident since 1949, was formerly of Akron, Ind.
She was a 1935 graduate of Bourbon High School. On July 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Gerald McHatton in Akron. Gerald preceded her on March 8, 2000. She was co-owner of McHatton Funeral Home and Ambulance Service in Warsaw from 1955 to 1971. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Warsaw where she served as a Ladies Circle Leader, a former member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a former DAR member, the Warsaw Junior Homemakers Club.
She is survived by daughters: Nancy (Ted) Beer, Leesburg, Ind.; Judy (Don) Wray, Warsaw; Barbara (John) Knipp, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister: Jennie Green, Warsaw; grandchildren: Dawn (fiancé Jay Paul) Allen, Warsaw; Daniel (Ginger) Wray, Warsaw; Jason (Kristi) Beer, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; Kristin (Matt) Coffey, Indianapolis; Michael (Rachel Mathis) Knipp, Fort Wayne; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, two brothers preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Pastor David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church will officiate the services.
