WCS Educators Attend PLC Conference
On Aug. 3 to Aug. 5, approximately 60 WCS educational professionals attended the Professional Learning Communities at Work® Conference in Lincolnshire, Ill.
Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert stated, “The PLC process is our school corporation’s vehicle for continuous improvement focused on student learning. The methods learned through this professional learning create a culture of collaboration within our schools.”
Professional Learning Communities were established at WCS several years ago and this conference introduced new team members and current staff to the PLC process. Lorinda Kline, Warsaw’s PLC Coach, heads up the local training within WCS.
PLC collaboration within the school buildings focus on student growth and achievement at grade or department level weekly meetings. The three ingredients included in this process is a focus on learning, building a collaborative culture and a results-based orientation.
Educators from WCS heard keynotes from PLC experts such as Richard DuFour, Rebecca DuFour and Mike Mattos. The group attended breakout sessions and question/answer forums with experts.
WCS kicks off a 2015-2016 opening day celebration for teachers and staff at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the WCHS Performing Arts Center.
