Speakmans Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Dave and Carmi Speakman, West Noble School retirees, are celebrating 50 years of marriage this month.
They were married Aug. 22, 1965, at Union Chapel Church near Decatur, Ind., after graduating from Adams Central the previous May. They then graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., and began their teaching careers at West Noble in 1969. Dave began teaching at the junior high and after serving several administrative assignments, retired as superintendent in 2009. Carmi retired from teaching language arts at the middle school in 2008.
Dave and Carmi are the parents of four married sons. They are Dr. Ric and Melissa Speakman, Centerville, Ohio; Drs. Sky and Megan Speakman, Nairobi, Kenya; Mark and Mary Speakman, Rockville, Md.; and Dr. Lucas and Kari Speakman, Milpitas, Calif. They also have 10 grandchildren, aged 8 and under.
The couple celebrated their anniversary with a Disney family cruise in April. In addition, the couple renewed their wedding vows while aboard the Holland American Ship Zaandam during an Alaska cruise in June.
