John Glenn Stifles Triton
WALKERTON – Triton’s volleyball season opener did not go nearly as planned, losing in three games to host John Glenn Monday evening.
Glenn took hold of a game one win, 25-15, and just got stronger, winning 25-14 and 25-10 to close out the sweep in an old Northern State Conference matchup.
Triton wasn’t able to build up much offense as Glenn shut down the two primaries in blue and gold. Nicole Sechrist and Jaela Meister both finished with just five kills apiece and the two combined for 18 digs on defense. Hannah Wanemacher was only able to hoist up 11 winners from the assist category.
Triton as a team managed just 12 kills on the night out of 61 total attempts, less than a 20-percent ratio.
The John Glenn junior varsity team started the night off right, taking the matchup with Triton 25-9, 25-23.
Triton (0-1) will host Oregon-Davis Thursday, the JV matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
