SYRACUSE — In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, Poly-Wood, Inc. will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Lakeside Park, 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse.
We are a big family here at Poly-Wood and a few of our friends are expecting this year. We were looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate National Lemonade Day with the community and thought what better way than to lend a helping hand and raise awareness for a cause that is so close to our hearts.
Lemonade and cookies will be offered free of charge in celebration of National Lemonade Day. Poly-Wood will be accepting donations for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation online on our fundraising page and cash and check donations in-person at our stand.
Additionally, Poly-Wood will be raffling off a Lemon Adirondack chair at the stand. One entry into the raffle will be given for every $2 donation and with every $5 donation a Poly-Wood 25th Anniversary Koozie will be given out. Attendees must be present in order to win the raffle.
For those who cannot attend the event and wish to make a contribution visit our online fundraising page.
Poly-Wood will be accepting donations online through Aug. 21.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.
Since Alex held that first stand, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $100 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 475 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
