INDIANAPOLIS — The 9,080 homes sold statewide in June is a 16.5 percent increase from the same month of last year. This is according to the monthly Indiana Real Estate Markets Report released by realtors. The rest of the year-over-year comparison from the report shows housing outperformed June 2014 in all measures except inventory.
“It’s been nine years since we’ve seen activity and pricing at these levels,” said Bruce Bright, 2015 president of the Indiana Association of Realtors. “Despite a continued lack of inventory and increasing prices, consumers all across the state see the opportunities that low interest rates present and are confident about housing as an investment. A fundamentally sound real estate market is essential to a healthy economy. If interest rates stay low and the job market, particularly wages, stays strong, real estate will have done its part this year to foster the vibrant communities in which we want to live and work.”
In line with the Indiana State Association of Realtors statistics, sales in Kosciusko County have been great in the last few months. Per Jan Miller, Re/Max Results and Kosciusko Board of Realtors MLS secretary, “People were looking to move before school started and a number of them have made that move. We are still in need of some housing in the median range level, but sales have continued to increase. As Bruce Bright states, home sales help foster vibrant communities and Kosciusko County supports some of the most wonderful communities in the state due to job opportunities, the beauty of our lake region and the many attractions.”
Kosciusko County Realtors are looking for the market to stay strong through the end of the summer selling season.
