Syracuse Man Arrested Following Pursuit Through Town
SYRACUSE — One man was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 25, after leading Syracuse police on a chase through the town.
Syracuse Police Department had its hands full Tuesday evening after Officer Joe Denton responded to a call of an unwanted subject, later identified as Adam Eary, 33, East Nokomis Drive, at the Marathon gas station located at 206 S. Huntington St.
At approximately 9:38 p.m. Denton arrived at the gas station and was pointed in the direction of a green Buick. The driver of the vehicle, Eary, looked at Denton and sped off.
Denton followed the car down Baltimore Street and activated his lights and sirens, with Eary refusing to stop. Denton continued his pursuit of the vehicle down Front Street and Pittsburgh Street. Eary failed to stop, driving through the grass of an empty parking lot north of CVS and entering the CVS parking lot.
Eary struck a parked vehicle located in the CVS parking lot, then exited the vehicle and ran through the parking lot. According to the report, Denton identified himself to Eary and asked him to stop running, threatening to use a Taser on the subject. Eary stopped running and got to the ground. As Eary was detained, officers were able to detect a strong odor of alcohol.
Eary refused to talk to police when questioned at the scene, using obscenities to express his disinterest. Eary agreed to take a certified chemical test and was found to be intoxicated.
Eary was booking into the Kosciusko County Jail with charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 percent or greater. His bond was $5,000 surety, plus $250 cash.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and North Webster Police Department assisted in the arrest.
