A husband and wife writing team are celebrating their newest book with book signings on opposite ends of Noble County.
The Kendallville Public Library and the annual Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival will host Mark and Emily Hunter, whose book “Images of America: Albion and Noble County” was released Aug. 24. The book is a photo-filled look at local history, and part of Arcadia Publishing’s “Images of America” series.
The Hunters will appear at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Kendallville Public Library, at 221 S. Park Ave. They’ll give a talk on local history and the development of the book, and be available to answer questions. They’ll also have copies of all their books for sale.
In addition to “Albion and Noble County,” Mark and Emily have collaborated on another history book, “Smoky Days and Sleepless Nights: A Century or So with the Albion Fire Department” and a humor book, “Slightly Off the Mark.” Mark Hunter has also written two romantic comedy novels, a young adult adventure and a collection of short stories.
On the following Saturday, Sept. 12, the Hunters will spend the day at the Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival, south of Ligonier near the junction of US 33 and SR 5. The festival is a celebration of early American life in rural Indiana, and features among other things musical performances and historical reenactments.
Stone’s Tavern was one of Noble County’s first commercial structures, and after being restored became the focus of an annual celebration, as well as other activities. The tavern is one of many local historical places featured in “Albion and Noble County.” Mark and Emily will be there with their books from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.
