Perfect Evening For A Block Party
WARSAW — The weather was almost perfect for an evening block party Thursday, Sept. 10.
Kosciusko County Community Foundation held a free Donor Appreciation Block Party, in front of its building, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the one-block section of Buffalo Street. Approximately 160 gathered throughout the two-hour event to enjoy food, activities for all ages, free books and a tour of the KCCF offices.
Recipients of KCCF funds provided fun activities for all ages. Center for Lakes & Streams demonstrated water testing using distilled and tap water, orange juice, and Coke to demonstrate the various PH levels in each liquid. The Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services began by providing Philanthropy Twister, but had to switch gears after a breeze kept blowing away the Twister game, substituting a philanthropy question and answer game to reach prizes.
Kosciusko Community YMCA offered a “hop the gap” game, similar to hop scotch, testing the knowledge of participants about the Y programs. An opportunity to test your marksmanship through target shooting was offered by the Kosciusko County 4-H Shooting Sports.
Corn hole was hosted by the Kosciusko Literacy Services as well as an opportunity to choose reading material. Guests also could try their artistic talent with Doodle Art hosted by the Lakeland Art Association.
Guests took advantage of KCCF building tours to see the remodeling and how yearly reports were converted into wall decorations.
Many were seed having individual, group or family photos taken by Bob List Photography commemorating the evening. List had a few props available to specialize the photo.
Many of the “neighbors” of KCCF remained open for guests to stop in and look around.
A picnic-style meal — hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, fruit, chips, beverages and salad were available from Rex’s Food Truck. For dessert Zoyo’s Frozen Yogurt provided various types of yogurt and a wide variety of toppings.
Each guest receive a donor appreciation tumbler as an additional appreciation gift from the foundation.
