Irene Stavropulos
Irene Stavropulos, 78, Warsaw, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
On Feb. 22, 1937, she was born in Warsaw, to George and Fatini (Angelidou) Stavropulos. She was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, where she graduated from Warsaw High School, Class of 1955. She also attended Manchester College for two years, where she was enrolled in the secretarial program.
She worked for United Telephone Company for 34 years as a payroll clerk, retiring in 1990. Irene was a member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, South Bend and was also a member of Ladies Philoptechos Society and The Good Samaritans.
She is survived by her sister: Constance Stavropulos, Warsaw; two cousins: A. Gus Thrapsimis, Indianapolis; and Artemis Hoke, South Bend. Irene is also survived by several cousins and second cousins in Thessaleniki, Greece. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Trisagion Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, followed by the Greek Orthodox Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Rev. Father George D. Konstantopoulos Protopresbyter officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions in Irene’s memory may be made to St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, South Bend, or to the Stavropulos Family Memorial Fund, care of Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Warsaw.
