World Champion Skaters Roll Into Warsaw
WARSAW — Up to 150 skaters and coaches from around the U.S and Canada are about to get serious at Eastlake Skate Center this weekend with some of the top trainers in the country and the world with a roller skating training camp hosted by rink owner, Trace Hansen, Eastlake Skating Center.
Hansen is a firm believer that, “athletes should be exposed to international trends and techniques that can give them the edge they need.”
The lineup of trainers, alongside top Italian trainer, Cristina Moretti, and world chamption, Gustavo Casado, will be former world and national U.S. champions, Anna Carrier-Barnett, Dezera Salas and Patricia Jacques, offering expertise in all aspects of artistic roller skating over the four-day event.
The camp caters to all skaters from beginners to elite and includes 2015 Pan American Games silver medalist and national champion for the World Class Men’s Singles for the USA, John Burchfield, who has his sights set on a top-five finish at the 2016 World Championships in Italy.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for the youngsters to get access to such a high caliber trainer like Moretti and the camp will be something they remember for years to come,” Hansen said.
In 2014, Hansen ran the SK8CAMP USA for the first time, placing Warsaw on the map in the world of roller figure skating in the United States. The camp is sanctioned by USA Roller Sports, the International Olympic Committee recognized national governing body for all of roller skating.
Sk8camp USA 2015 is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.
Skaters can register to participate by downloading the application form in advance on the TEAM USA website. The cost is $75 for skaters and $45 for coaches. Skaters receive a T-shirt. Lunch and water will be provided daily at no charge for all attendees, including parents. A dinner night is planned for Saturday evening to include a buffet and open gym and pool at the new YMCA. This is included in camp fee, as well. Parents may attend for $10.
The Roller Skating Association International is a trade association that serves commercial skating center owner/operators.
