Warsaw Sweeps Spiker, Valley Splits
WARSAW – Warsaw concluded its varsity volleyball season in style Saturday, beating both Tippecanoe Valley and Northfield at the Tiger Spiker Invite.
The abbreviated tournament, which had South Bend Adams drop out late in the week, saw Warsaw beat Tippecanoe Valley 25-10, 25-9, 25-15 and Northfield 25-12, 25-7, 25-8.
Top performers for Warsaw were Cassie Hoag with 58 assists, Blake McGarvey with seven aces, Peyton Adamiec with 30 digs, Jordyn Lindeman with nine kills and three blocks, Caroline Mayer with 15 digs and 12 kills, Kacy Bragg nine kills and two blocks, Lexie Day with 11 kills and Haley Peterson with 11 kills and four aces.
Warsaw finishes the regular season with a 23-8 record and will meet either Elkhart Memorial or Concord Saturday in the semi-finals of the Class 4-A Penn Sectional.
The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday.
Valley opened play by defeating Northfield 3-0 and then lost to the host Tigers 3-0 in the final match of the three-team tournament.
Valley topped conference foe Northfield by a 25-14, 25-20, 25-10 final.
Lexi O’Connell led the way for Valley on the day with 17 kills. Abby Betten had 16 digs and Maddy Henninger finished with 27 assists and four aces.
Valley, now 18-13, will play NorthWood on Thursday night in the first-round of the Class 3-A West Noble Sectional. The match is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
