Man Hits Wife In Front of Child, Arrested
WINONA LAKE — A man who became angry with his wife and struck her was arrested on battery charges Thursday afternoon, Nov. 12.
Adam Douglas Kitchens, 27, 103 W. 12th St., Winona Lake, was booked in the county jail at 12:20 p.m. on preliminary charges of domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
Police were called on Nov. 2, to a domestic battery at the 12th Street, address. When police arrived, Winona Lake Police Chief Paul Schmitt spoke with Karlee Kintzel, sister of the victim Alona Kitchens. Kintzel told police her sister had contacted her and said her husband had battered her. She advised she drove to the residence and when she arrived Adam Kitchens was throwing his wife’s clothing out the window. When Adam Kitchens was told police were going to be notified, he left the residence.
Alona Kitchens told police he had arrived home drunk and was angry with her. He pushed her a couple times and threw her cell phone. He also struck her in the forehead, causing pain. He then threw her clothes out the window. Alona Kitchens’ son was present when the battery took place.
Adam Kitchens is being held on $6,000 surety/cash bond.
