Handgun, Marijuana Found In Traffic Stop
MARSHALL COUNTY — A small child in a vehicle where police found marijuana and a Glock 40 caliber handgun, was turned over to family, before the driver was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Jeffrey Edward Lewis II, 25, North Liberty, was arrested for carrying a handgun without a license, following a traffic stop Sunday, Nov. 15.
Marshall county police report Officer L. D. McFarland, stopped Lewis for exceeding the posted speed limit in the 100 block of US 31/Michigan Road, Plymouth at 7:48 p.m. Sunday. During the traffic stop, McFarland detected an odor associated with that of burnt marijuana. The vehicle was searched and located inside the vehicle was a substance believed to be marijuana, along with the handgun.
A case report will be completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office for review and formal charges being filed.
