Ruth Allison
Ruth Allison of Grace Village Retirement Community of Winona Lake, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, at the age of 94.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County, since 1948 where she worked at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw as the unit clerk on the surgical floor, retiring in 1991. Her full time job was loving her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a member of the Chimes Choir for over 24 years at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, as well as a member and three time past president of Winona Literary Club. She was a member of Community Grace Brethren Church of Warsaw where she taught S.M.M. Sisterhood of Mary and Martha.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1921, in Bakerton, Pa., to Walter J. McCombie and Mary (Harris) McCombie. On June 3, 1944, she was married to Roy Allison, who passed away on June 7, 1986.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Neil (Leana) Allison, Warsaw; two daughters: Patricia (David) Mikel, Nappanee; Kathleen Allison, Winona Lake; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Peggy Flores, Johnstown, Pa.; Shirley (Bruce S.) Berkey, State College, Pa.; Cally (Wilmer) Stiles, Homer City, Pa.; and two brothers: Walter L. (Nancy) McCombie, Johnstown, Pa.; George (Kathy) McCombie, Johnstown, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Dorothy Yeager; and Olive Bailey.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. There will also be visitation an hour prior to the service on Saturday morning from 9-10 a.m. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Tom Miller and Chaplain Bryan Benjamin. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Salem Cemetery in Wilmot.
