Robert L. Hathaway
Robert L. Hathaway, 83, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Visiting Nurses and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He fought many illnesses the last 11 years. He was born Nov. 5, 1932, to Everett and Lulu (Kuhn) Hathaway. Bob was a graduate of Pierceton High School. On June 9, 1978, in Warsaw he married his best friend and love of his life Vivian Brown, who survives.
Bob was a Production Manager at Zimmer, retiring after 25 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was creative, artistic and could fix most anything. He enjoyed gardening, staying busy keeping deer out of the garden and arborvitaes. Fishing was a favorite sport for him. Winters were spent in the Florida Keys, where he experienced backcountry fishing. He enjoyed many favorite local lakes for fishing. Bob and Vivian traveled across all 50 states, parts of Europe and many cruises including the Panama Canal. Come spring, trips to northern Michigan were made hunting for Morel mushrooms. He looked forward to watching Notre Dame Sports and NASCAR races. Bob was fun, witty and could make us laugh, even when very sick.
He is survived by his wife: Vivian; daughter: Cynthia (Jerry) Kreger, Pierceton; son: Chris (Emmy) Conley, Syracuse; and stepdaughter: Lisa (Dennis) Bunda, Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughters: Julie (Steve) Poe, Beth (Jesse) Hite, Shelby (Matt) Pentz, Kelsey Kreger, Hailey Bunda; and grandson: William Bunda; great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews survive.
